Our Southern Highlands Grand Manor
Built in 1924, The Robertson Hotel originally offered 100 rooms, a country club with a golf course, horse riding, tennis, croquet, lawn bowls, fishing and hunting and of course, a venue for lavish balls, parties and events.
Today, this Hotel remains true to much of its original ambience, but with a fresh and stylish modern twist. We have also ensured a welcoming, open door and family-friendly policy, which you will notice immediately upon your arrival.
From the moment you drive into the undercover Port-cochere, you will be transported to a bygone era; a gentler time of relaxation, laughter and cherished moments with loved ones.
From the red carpet to the ornate timber frames, oversized wood fireplaces, higher-than-high ceilings and a jaw-droppingly ornate chandelier, you will pinch yourself at the building’s beauty, history and intricate details.
Your hardest task? Deciding whether to explore sprawling lawns or relax by the fire in the salon with a book, a blanket and a cheese platter, or enjoy a sundowner or two at our salubrious Gatsby-style bar.
Home of The Traitors Australia
Both Season 1 and Season 2 of the hit Australian reality series The Traitors Australia were filmed right here at The Robertson Hotel, with the hotel’s grand interiors and beautiful grounds providing the atmospheric backdrop for the show’s drama.
The series brought contestants who were either named as Faithfuls or Traitors together for strategy, suspense and worldwide attention in a setting that couldn’t be more fitting for this unforgettable format. The host of the two seasons was Rodger Corser, who is a very well-known and loved Australian Actor and TV host.
The hotel’s dining room was featured for breakfasts, our ballroom was the set for the main round meeting table, which was known as the Banishment Room, and our Executive Suite was the traitors’ tower where the traitors met privately within each episode.
Fun Fact - The contestants and crew actually lived in our rooms for the duration of their stay over the weeks of filming. Additionally, our bar and salon room was actually transformed for the filming, which we ended up loving so much that we kept parts of it.
Babe (1995)
Our scenic grounds also played a role in one of cinema’s most beloved family classics. The iconic film Babe was filmed throughout the Robertson area - including right here on the hotel’s gardens and surrounds in shots where the hotel can be seen in the background, capturing the storybook charm that made the movie such a timeless favourite. Each year over the October long weekend, the town of Robertson celebrates the movie with little specialised festivities. The famous Big Robertson Potato has been transformed into the Big Pig, which depicts Babe and the other farm animals within the movie. Here at The Robertson Hotel, we light up our building in pink to show our appreciation for the film, and we put together a Babe-themed high tea for guests to enjoy over the long weekend. We also have a petting zoo featuring animals from Babe the Movie, including piglets.
If you want to book your Babe High tea, go to our booking page to secure a spot.
Riptide (2017)
The Robertson Hotel has also made a feature in a few scenes in the family/ romance movie starring Debby Ryan. The scenes that featured the hotel were meant to replicate Cora’s (Debby Ryan) home in New York. Our hotel was chosen due to its grand interior and high ceilings.
Over the years, we have also accommodated movie/tv show cast and crew - Planet of the Apes and The Appleton ladies potato race. The Robertson Hotel is a great location for movies, TV show productions, photo shoots and more. We have multiple internal spaces, accommodation for the crew and cast and beautiful external grounds. Something for everyone.
